Bayamon Synthetic turf Field
Thanks to the foresight and leadership of the Mayor of Bayamon, Ramon Luis Rivera Cruz, the Municipality of Bayamon and the Puerto Rico Islanders now have a new 100,000 sf state of the art synthetic turf soccer pitch to play games and practice on. The field material is made of special UltraFiber G4 DF grass blades developed and installed by BlueSkyTurf Inc. of the USA. The artificial turf emulates real grass so closely, top professional and college teams from around the world use th is product with great success. This facility gives Bayamon and the Islanders the highest quality field surface in the Caribbean or Central America. And, it's quality and performance matches anything in the USA, as well.
Because the surface drains over 40" of water per hour, the field is able to be used even during the hardest rains that Puerto Rico has to endure. It has already been installed successfully in many areas around the globe that endure even more rain than Puerto Rico, as well as hurricanes and even tornados. This very durable turf product not only looks and plays just like real grass in perfect condition, it comes with an 8 year warrantee and will afford the City many years of nearly maintenance free service.
And, it is actually safer than real grass because the playing performance will always be the same, no matter what the season or weather conditions. Additional benefits of using the BlueSkyTurf UltraFiber G4 DF synthetic turf system are greatly reduced maintenance, no need for fertilizers or chemicals, and a consistent, soft surface feel, known as G-Max. This criteria measures the shock attenuation or softness of the surface. On regular grass the playing performance and G-Max will continually change depending on the weather conditions. So, the turf can either be muddy or extremely hard. However, the UltraFiber G4 DF is always the same- just like natural turf in pristine condition.
Its all rubber infill system helps assure this consistency. Other companies use up to 80% sand as their infill. This practice breeds contaminants and constantly changes the hardness of the field, depending on weather conditions. These factors affect performance, consistency, safety and performance. Blue Sky Turf's all rubber infill, which is coated with an anti-microbial material, is non porous, thereby eliminating the above mentioned negative factors.
"The benefits UltrFiber G4 DF with our special all rubber infill greatly improve the game conditions", said Hank Julicher, CEO of BlueSkyTurf. I've been in this industry for 40 years and this stuff is so good that it's way ahead of anything else out there in overall performance, cost, safety and value. That's why we call it G4 DF. It's the 4th generation of artificial turf products, which is the latest and greatest, and it combines 2 different types of fibers to make the surface playing and visual conditions more like real grass in perfect condition looks and play.
Because we are vertically integrated, we handle the manufacturing, installation and warrantee from soup to nuts in house. it eleiminates hassles, extra costs for middlemen and subcontractors blaming the other guy for any problems. We've been at this for a very long time so we know what folks want and what we're doing."
"Jose Rivera, of Grace Engineering, oversaw the design and construction of the project from the first day that the idea was conceived almost 3 years ago. Everyone on the team worked really hard together to make this project a successful reality. We couldn't have done it so well without them," said Hank Julicher.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is slated for September 19th. Several top players in the world have already tested the surface with a lot of praise," said Jose Rivera, of Grace Engineering. "All of the Mayor's hard work and planning have paid huge dividends to the community," Rivera continued. We are looking forward to enjoying many years of play on this field and, in fact, we have added additional lines running sideways so that the field can actually be used as 3 fields at once for juniors and practice games," Rivera concluded.
